The DeWitt Wallace Institute for the History of Psychiatry
The DeWitt Wallace Institute for the History of Psychiatry has a major commitment to the collection and preservation of materials documenting the history of psychiatry reflected in the Oskar Diethelm Library. This is one of the great libraries in the world with a rich collection of historical documents and materials related to psychiatry. Many areas of psychiatry are considered in the History of Psychiatry Seminars, the longest running such series in the nation with participants from many institutions.
In January 2009, the Institute was renamed The DeWitt Wallace Institute for the History of Psychiatry in recognition of the invaluable support received over the years from the Department of Psychiatry's DeWitt Wallace Readers Digest Program. The DeWitt Wallace Program continues to be a major source of funding, supporting the Institute's important work.
