Psychosomatic Medicine – Mind and Body Research

Formerly referred to as consultation-liaison psychiatry, research and scholarship in the field of psychosomatic medicine encompasses areas from the biological to the psycho-social as well as psychotherapy. Research and clinical work seek to understand the psychological and physiological implications of medical illnesses, such as AIDS, cardiovascular disease, pain, cancer, and neurological diseases, as well as mood disorders and substance abuse. This specialty is enriched through collaboration with The Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
